Elevating an international clothing brand with a dedicated mezzanine solution
We had the great opportunity to contribute to the construction of a major distribution centre in Germany for a prominent international clothing brand. We supplied mezzanines for this distribution centre, a critical component of the overall infrastructure, working in close cooperation with our partners to ensure seamless integration.
The primary goal of the project was to construct a state-of-the-art distribution centre that could efficiently manage and distribute large volumes of clothing. Our mezzanines needed to meet specific requirements:
- Our mezzanines should serve as robust and reliable gangways in areas filled with shelving.
- Our mezzanines needed to integrate seamlessly into a suspended sorter system in another section of the building.
Our mezzanine solution was designed and installed to meet the unique needs of this massive distribution centre. Key features included:
Structural specifications:
- Installation across four halls, each with four floors, and columns stacked over 11 meters high.
- The building spans 216 metres in length and 60 metres in width.
- Nearly 2.5 kilometres of railing were incorporated.
- Most of the structure was built without additional bracing.
- A grid pattern of 8x6 metres was used.
Special considerations:
- Construction proceeded from the top floor downwards, a method necessitated by the need to support hanging clothing racks under each level.
- Close coordination with engineering teams ensured that openings and clearances for the clothing sorter system were precisely positioned.
Flooring materials:
- The mezzanines were equipped with flooring made of chipboard and/or grating, providing durable and versatile surfaces suitable for various warehouse operations.
The implementation of the mezzanine floors was carried out in several meticulously planned phases. The successful installation of the mezzanine system resulted in multiple key benefits. With our mezzanine providing essential support for both gangways and the hanging sorter system, the distribution centre operates efficiently. Despite the height and scale of the columns, the mezzanine system maintains robust stability and strength. Last but not least, the mezzanine systems seamlessly integrate with the shelving and sorting systems, enabling smooth operations and easy access for maintenance.
In conclusion, Profielnorm’s role in this high-capacity distribution centre underscores the vital importance of precise and reliable mezzanine solutions in driving the success of large-scale logistics operations.
